My House, My Rules
Seems Jeff has met his match as the landlord vs. tenant game begins! Thus ends my four-part homage to the original comics from 2008. So, next week will be the cover for the first story of the rebooted comic as we get ready for the band to take shape. A bit of foreshadowing in the first two panels as we see that Bud has a “Plan 9 from Outer Space” poster on his wall.
One of the reasons I rebooted the comic was that little themes like this got lost the first time around. In the early comics Bud and Jeff butted heads for a bit, but I never kept it around as a recurring theme. I did bring it up in the original “Back to School” storyline, but it was gone after that. For example, in “Calvin & Hobbes” the building of snowmen happened several times a year as well as Space Man Spiff episodes. I’ve gathered up all of these little themes that popped up now and then in the original comics, but never were heard from again.
I also intend to keep the fantasy elements like the Mystic Frog, Ms. Devil, the Further Adventures of Agent B.U.D., and of course, transforming Bud. I’ll dip into these periodically but not so often as to become annoying.
This beer song by the Youth of Britain has been on my radar since the comic started 17 years ago. I just never could figure out how to use it here. My first idea was to do a bunch of drawings of the gang drunk and edited into a video, but I never had the energy to draw that many images to fill up a 3 minute video. But with the original comics retired (for now) I can go back and revisit that idea as I know I have more than a few images of the gang drink and/or in bars.
Out for a few wobbly pops with the new tenant, what could happen ?
The first tunes to pop into my head were from the same guy, unfortunately they’re both from ’84 so that’s out…decisions, decisions 😉

That girl could PLAY…unfortunately cancer got her whe nshe was only 32 🙁
The second clip is from Peter Appleyard’s show,
the best in Canadian music dropped by each week for some fun and he could hammer the vibes with the best of them.
I should have put this one on the first page when Bud was heading out the door but I didn’t think of it.

There’s your Federally Mandated CanCon Content for this week 😉
Any comment with two or more links in it will be held for me to approve manually. I try to stay on top of moderating comments, but sometimes it takes a day or even two for me to approve them. This past week was brutally busy for me, so I’m a tad behind. So, sorry for the late comment approval.
Understandable, it showed up for me at first then disappeared so I assumed the page had refreshed or been changed and the comments glitched or something. I’ll try to remember to keep it to two links at a time.
I payed my land lord for 6 months once so if my room mates tried to bully on me they were stuck with me for 6 months. Plus I won the land lord’s favor who else was going to replace the mirco wave and toaster oven. Saved a mint of money before I went out on my own no starting off broke besides they got a clean kitchen mohahahahaha.
Did we lose all the previous comments on this page ? Should I bother putting the song links up again ?
As I explained above, any comment with two more more links will be held for moderation. Spammers love to load up fake comments with tons of links, so the moderation system holds those in queue for me to approve. I’m normally faster to approved comments.
This week was unusually busy for me. My youngest son bought a car from out of state and that took time dealing with the bank and the dealership to coordinate the sale, payment, and shipping. Then we had our entire septic system replaced on Wednesday… what a mess, but luckily I didn’t have to do anything except sign a $10,000 check. Thursday I had a tooth pulled. What joy that was! Friday was family eye exam time as I took two of my sons and myself to get eye exams and new glasses ordered. And Saturday, yesterday, we had the backyard seeded and hay put down to cover all of the dirt torn up by the septic replacement job. Again, not much for me to do as a contractor did the work, but I did clean up one side of our fence which was overgrown with those damn vines that are full of stickers. I took great joy in whacking the crap out of those bastards.
Sounds like a typical week, but at least something happened so you’re still above ground, maybe not above water but on the right side of the reseeded lawn. At least you didn’t have to get any pipe laid 😉 This one is just a few years later than the comic and I think I put it up on the old site but new readers wouldn’t see it.
